Charlie’s Coaching is for you if…

You want to:

  • Fearlessness is not about experiencing less fear or ignoring our hard-wired threat detection system. Instead, it is about becoming more familiar with our neurobiology and becoming more aware of and curious about our internal narratives, so that we can reduce our sub-conscious reactivity. From that place we are more available to address the challenges we face.

  • Authenticity doesn’t come from technique or training, but rather from a deep awareness, acknowledgment, and acceptance of who we are, what we really want and what truly matters to us. It also comes from a deep appreciation of others and our inter-dependence with one another. Authenticity supercharges our ability to lead with conviction, build trust more rapidly, and influence without reservation.

  • Effectiveness is powerfully augmented by cultivating both Fearlessness and Authenticity. But it is also so much more than that. Being more effective is about gaining greater clarity around what we are trying to achieve. It is about developing a more accurate understanding of where we are, where we are going, and what terrain we’re going to have to navigate on that journey. But it is also fundamentally about how we show up for each step of that journey and who we take with us.

You’re ready to:

  • The latest scientific research and many spiritual traditions teach us that we are the creators of our experience. Once we acknowledge that, we can learn to act from that knowledge. We can more authentically and effectively respond to the world of possibility that opens up. We can reduce the drama (and distraction) created by unconsciously establishing our locus of control outside of ourselves. And we can instead, more powerfully and profoundly, shape the reality we experience.

  • Typically, most of us spend a great deal of time unconsciously triggered by threats to our sense of;

    • approval - we want to be liked/loved/valued

    • control - we want to reduce uncertainty by controlling people/circumstances/things

    • security - we want to be, and feel, safe

This is a natural consequence of our neurobiology and psychology. From an evolutionary perspective, it is a good thing.

But this unconsciously triggered state usually leaves us unaware that we are closed, defensive and committed to being right.

Whereas the creativity, innovation, and effective collaboration (the keys to high-level problem solving) that the world needs from us right now, only arise when we are instead, open, curious, and committed to learning.

  • Self-awareness and learning agility are crucial qualities we need to cultivate as leaders for sustainable success.

Being radically responsible, and learning to shift to being open, curious, and committed to learning are essential foundations to cultivating those qualities.

Learning to locate ourselves in relation to these foundational states is a key skill that demands a deep connection with our mind, body, and spirit/heart. Learning to tap into the wisdom and intelligence of our bodies through our innate knowing and intuition (often the most critical success factor) requires us to slow down, pause, and be acutely present with what we are feeling.

And being emotionally intelligent is simply the starting point to becoming emotionally literate: Being able to experience emotions fully, release them completely, and learn from them quickly.

This is often counterintuitive in a high-pressure situation, and so takes practice, patience, and discipline.

You are:

  • When you are confronted with another’s suffering, you feel motivated to relieve that suffering. You acknowledge and act from the knowledge that we are each just different versions of one another and that what connects us is far more expansive (and important) than what divides us.

You recognize and know from your experience, that no matter the question, Love is usually the answer.

  • You care deeply about people and planet, and you have a bold vision for how you and your team can serve humanity.

You commit time and energy in the service of this vision.

  • You see what is missing from the world as an invitation to become what is required.

What is ‘missing’ is not just seen by you as a statement of lack, but also as an opportunity to create, to operate from one of the highest functions of being human, a gift you can give to the world without obligation or duty, and sometimes from a place of true freedom.

Conscious Leadership

Be More Conscious

Being more conscious means not only developing a heightened self-awareness of our influence in the world, but also intentionally choosing to take responsibility for that influence.

C-Suite Leaders and Founders usually operate in environments in which creative problem solving is necessary. Being more conscious, opens up the opportunity to shift from an unconscious, triggered state, to one that unlocks creativity, innovation and collaboration.

In addition, conscious leaders are better equipped to navigate complex situations, manage stress, and inspire confidence, thereby expanding their capacity and capability to lead effectively.

I am particularly fond of the above and below the line model of conscious leadership offered by the Conscious Leadership Group. Their framework “The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership” is particularly powerful. I use this regularly with clients, along with the 5 Dimensions (and subset of 23 skills and qualities) of the Inner Development Goals Framework, Transformational Skills for Sustainable Development.

Being more conscious enables leaders to bring more of themselves to the present moment, expanding their capacity and capability to meet some of the most pressing needs of people and planet.

Connected Leadership

Be More Connected

As humans we are literally (and figuratively) wired to connect. Anthropology and our most up-to-date understanding of our neurobiology teach us that being connected is one of our deepest needs. And yet our technologies and their impact on popular culture tend to devalue its meaning, de-skill our society and dis-connect us.

Re-learning to more meaningfully and genuinely connect is one of the highest priorities for leaders at this point in humanity’s story.

I love working with exceptional leaders to help them connect with the magnificence of who they are, the magic of human connection and the mystery of their place in the Universe.

From this more connected place, purpose is forged, gratitude and appreciation arise naturally, love abounds, and hope fuels imagination, such that collaboration is supercharged and impact multiplied.

Cultivating this ‘intra’ and ‘inter’ connectedness ensures that leaders become available to leverage diverse perspectives, facilitate open communication, and harness collective intelligence to solve complex/wicked/hard problems creatively and drive innovation.

By being more connected, leaders enhance their ability to lead with empathy and inclusivity, thereby expanding their capacity to mobilize and inspire their teams towards shared goals.

Be More Creative

Creative leaders are adept at navigating ambiguity, exploring new possibilities, and envisioning future trends and opportunities. By fostering creativity, leaders can drive innovation, adapt to changes more swiftly, and develop unique solutions to complex challenges.

For C-Suite Leaders and Founders, expanding their creativity, and unleashing it in their teams, is essential for building effective organizations. This is especially urgent in a world where double exponential technologies are reshaping every aspect of our lives and disrupting every industry.

This accelerating pace of change is unfamiliar and unprecedented.

For some, this change is a threat. For others, it’s an opportunity. For most, it’s both… and for each us and our organizations it is a constant and immediate struggle to adjust to this new state of dynamic equilibrium.

Creativity enables us to confidently and curiously challenge the status quo, forge new realities, and also respond to the challenge of unanticipated change.

Being more creative expands a leader's capacity to envision and implement transformative strategies, leading to more effective and impactful leadership.
